Non-climacteric fruit

Watermelons are non-climacteric fruits, meaning they stop ripening the moment they are harvested from the vine. They are picked at peak physiological maturity so that they arrive ready to cut and enjoy immediately.

Storage & Handling

  • Before cutting: Store your whole watermelon in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated place at room temperature. It does not need to be refrigerated right away if you plan to consume it within a few days.
  • Avoid extreme cold before opening: Do not store whole watermelons at very low temperatures for extended periods, as tropical and subtropical fruits are sensitive to cold, which can degrade their texture and natural sweetness.
  • After cutting: Once sliced, cover the exposed flesh tightly or place the pieces in an airtight container and store them in the refrigerator. Consume within 3 days to enjoy its optimal juiciness and flavor.
  • Natural variations: Because our farmers do not use post-harvest chemical treatments or synthetic waxes, minor skin blemishes or sun spots are completely natural and do not affect the quality of the fruit inside.
